Maxim Guerrero is a renowned name in the world of music. A classically trained musician, he has been playing the violin since he was four years old. Maxim Guerrero was born in Moscow, Russia, on October 1, 1980. His father, Mikhail Guerrero, was a violinist in the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, and his mother, Irina Guerrero, was a piano teacher. Maxim began taking violin lessons from his father at the age of four. When he was eight years old, he made his debut as a soloist with the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, playing the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in E Minor.

In 1991, the Guerrero family immigrated to the United States, settling in New York City. Maxim continued his violin studies at the Juilliard School, where he was a student of Dorothy DeLay. He graduated from Juilliard in 2002 with a Bachelor of Music degree.

Maxim Guerrero has appeared as a soloist with many of the world’s leading orchestras. In 2003, he made his debut with the New York Philharmonic, playing the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D Major. He has also performed with the London Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the San Francisco Symphony.

In addition to his work as a concerto soloist, Maxim Guerrero is an active chamber musician. He has collaborated with such artists as pianists Emanuel Ax, Yefim Bronfman, and András Schiff; cellists Yo-Yo Ma and Mischa Maisky; and violinists Joshua Bell and Midori. He is a member of the Escher String Quartet, which he co-founded in 2005.

Maxim Guerrero has been the recipient of many awards and honors. In 2002, he won the First Prize and Gold Medal at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. He has also been awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant, the Leonore Annenberg Fellowship for the Performing Arts, and the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award.

Maxim Guerrero currently resides in New York City. He plays a Stradivarius violin called the “ex-Kreutzer” (1708), which is on loan to him from the Nippon Music Foundation.
